Lost Registration / Duplicate Title

If your tag and/or decal has been lost or stolen, you must contact your local law enforcement agency to report the loss or theft prior to making application for a replacement.

If you have lost your vehicle registration, a duplicate may be issued. The license plate number, decal number or vehicle identification number is required for the issuance. Duplicate registrations are issued at the tax collector’s office. The fee for replacement is $3.

The registered owner or lien holder on record for a vehicle may apply for a duplicate title. An application must be completed in detail and can be submitted at the tax collector’s office.

  • Duplicate vehicle or mobile home title: $78.25.
  • Duplicate vessel title: $9.
  • Fast titles cost an additional $10.

If there is an outstanding lien, only the lien holder can apply for a duplicate title. If the lien has been satisfied, a lien satisfaction form will need to be presented. A paper release may be acceptable.

If your title was from another state, you must apply for the duplicate title through the motor vehicle division of that state.
