WHY WE ARE MOVING TO BAYCOUNTYFLTAX.GOV

In the next few weeks you'll see a change in our website and email addresses from baytaxcollector.com to BAYCOUNTYFLTAX.GOV. This new .gov address provides greater security to the public and easily allows users to recognize they are connecting with an official government agency.

Making the move to a .gov site provides an extra layer of security. Unlike .com or .org domains that can be registered for a fee, with little questions asked about the services they provide, an agency registering as a .gov must be approved by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Only qualified, U.S.-based government organizations are permitted to use a .gov domain. Additionally, using .gov increases security as multi-factor authentication is enforced on all accounts in the .gov registrar and requires browsers to only use a secure HTTPS connection with our website. This protects visitors' privacy and ensures the content published is what is received by the user. The new .gov domain makes it more difficult for malicious spoofers and scammers to impersonate government officials in attempts to defraud the public.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WITH THE CHANGE

Users should see no disruption on their end. As we transition from a .com to a .gov, all webpages and emails addressed to the .com domain will be redirected to the .gov domain. The content on the website will remain the same.  We do encourage you if you have bookmarked pages or saved contacts, to be sure to update those to BayCountyFLTax.gov.
